Day Visit or Stayover?
Surrounded by beautiful villages, within easy reach of all the region’s capitals including Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham and Sheffield, convenient for the A1 and Stamford and only a little over an hour by train from London, the Golden Button Charity Fair brings a “London-quality” event to Belvoir, a world-renowned landmark location at the tripoint of the counties of Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
The event is already supported by a massive network of charitable and sporting goodwill and is expected to become the highlight in the regional social calendar and also makes it a focus go-to destination for affluent weekenders to seeking to place it at the heart of a short “stayover” vacation at one the many quality inns located close to Belvoir in the beautiful English countryside.
The Castle and Engine Yard
Belvoir Castle is a gloriously romantic Gothic Revival style stately home sited on the 16,000 beautiful Belvoir Estate which has been the home of the Manners family for five hundred years and seat of the Dukes of Rutland for over three centuries.
The Castle stands proudly on an elevated site which makes it highly visible and a nationally renowned destination for events and filming. Belvoir is popular with visitors and contains many works of art, the highlights being the lavish staterooms, including the stunning ‘Elizabeth Saloon’ (named after the wife of the 5th Duke), the Regents Gallery and the Roman-inspired State Dining Room.
Adjoining the Castle is the historic, hugely popular and successful Belvoir Engine Yard, once the location of artisans who built the castle, now a quality regional shopping destination redeveloped by the Duchess of Rutland as a £2.5m upscale leisure and boutique retail centre with 12 shops and bar/restaurant.
The event is located close to the main entrance to the castle at the Belvoir Engine Yard on a specially designed event-site with excellent modern facilities, full disability access and ample adjacent customer free parking. Please note that while well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome on the event site and outdoor eating areas, with the exception of guide dogs they are not admitted to the marquees.
The fair site is well connected to major roads with rail links at Grantham (London 1h. 11) and Melton Mowbray (Birmingham 1h. 10). Bus services operate hourly to the Castle Gates from Grantham (journey time 21 mins). The estate-owned 10-unit Engine Yard Retail Village (est. 2018) is located adjacent to the event opened and has developed a reputation across the region as a destination for quality food and boutique shopping.

Demographic and Promotion
Belvoir Castle is located at the heart of an affluent rural area with a historical prosperity based on fertile agricultural land and trade. Historically in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries the area's quality hunting attracted society's elite and the area retains a deep equestrian tradition with a high regard for sporting and countryside traditions. The prestigious Belvoir Hunt is kennelled on the estate with the Quorn and the Cottesmore nearby and Belvoir is world-renowned for the quality of its game shooting.
More recently the attractive countryside, the wealth of sporting activities, the vibrant social scene and quality local housing stock have combined with fast rail links to London from Grantham (1h 10m) and Peterborough (51m) to attract an affluent influx of people with high disposable incomes and a wish to present well. Overall the profile is similar to the Cotswolds but with a slightly younger demographic because property remains relatively affordable. Many families have fathers (and sometimes mothers) who work in the City and stay in London in the week but maintain their family home in or close to the Vale of Belvoir.
Many more young families with children at home also live in and around the villages and local market towns with mum and dad undertaking a more local commute to Leicester, Sheffield and Nottingham or perhaps working from home online. There is also a significant affluent elderly population. Young singletons may well live in the surrounding local urban centres but road and transport links are good and they are happy to journey out at weekends to enjoy a day in the glorious countryside.
The Golden Button Charity Fair is being marketed to serve an aspirant, affluent customer base who are pleased to be associated with a countryside look and lifestyle whether or not they actively participate in its activities. They recognise the pleasures of buying, wearing and owning the finer things in life and associating and shopping with people who share their tastes and values.
